Another lost tooth!

Ava lost another tooth this afternoon after school!  This makes number four for her, although this one was a bit more traumatic than others.  She was eating her after school snack, when she bit down and hit the loose tooth just right that it must of snapped a root.  She cried out in pain and her mouth had quite a bit of blood in it.  We rinsed out her mouth, and I even put the numbing gel on the gums.  She felt better and started to eat her snack when she bit it the same way again.  This time it knocked the tooth completely out though!  She didn't like how it happened, but the end result was the same! :-)

Lost the bottom tooth on the right today!

After a quick supper, Ava had her Girl Scouts Daisies meeting.  Her group was in charge of the flag ceremony, which was the first time that had happened, and Ava even got to hold the flag.  After the flag ceremony, they handed out patches that the girls had earned, and Ava earned one for joining girl scouts, one for starting the new book with the group, and then her troop leader asked her if she could recite the Girl Scout promise.  We had been working on it just today after school and I had reassured Ava that she would not have to get up on stage or say it in front of everybody, but that she could just recite it to her troop leader.  So when her Daisies were on stage to receive their patches, the troop leader turned to me and asked if I thought Ava was ready.  I felt so bad for her and she had such a look of terrorizing fear when the troop leader asked Ava to recite the Girl Scout promise in front of all the other girls (aged from kindergarten to junior high) and all the parents!!  But she did it, and I was super proud of her!  So she earned another patch for that too!

Tomorrow is finally Friday!  Hope everyone has a great day, and enjoy the weekend!

Scary Day!

Today was kind of a scary day for this Mommy!  I had four kiddos today, all in diapers, and all napping at the time that Ava was to get out of school (2:30) for her early out day.  My friend, Sarah, has offered many times to pick up Ava for me, and I finally decided to take her up on this offer in order to avoid waking the kids up (never wake a sleeping child!!).  She called me at 2:35 to say that "something weird" was going on because no kids had been released, and none of the usual teachers were outside.  She said a police car with its lights on had come into the parking lot, drove around, and then left, which was odd.  While I was on the phone with her, she spoke with a man who had tried to enter the school and he told her the school was on "some sort of lockdown."  According to him, all the doors were locked, and the person he could see through the window in the office told him to "go away."  Then, a helicopter arrived and began to circle above the elementary school for several minutes.  At the same time, the principal finally stepped outside and spoke over a megaphone that "all students and teachers were to remain inside their classrooms, and all parents were to remain inside their vehicles" and were not to try to enter the school.  She stated they would address the "fears and concerns" of the parents when they had more time.  At this point, I was still on the phone with Sarah, but immediately decided I was going to go there myself because I was starting to really worry, and I just need to see Ava myself and make sure she was okay.  By the time I arrived at the school, the children had been released, so obviously everything was fine at this point.  When I finally was able to pick up Ava about 45 minutes after when she was supposed to get out of school, she immediately began talking to me about how they were on a lockdown, and Mrs. Shelton told them all to hide under their tables, put their heads down, keep quiet, and they turned off all the lights.  She told me it was really scary, and some of the kids were crying.  How awful!  She also said she wished her Mommy had been there with her. :-(  According to the local news, and a later phone message from the principal, gunshots were heard near the elementary school, and police were canvasing inside the school and outside to make sure everything was safe.  Thankfully everything was just fine but it sure gave this Mommy quite the scare!  After all the recent school shootings, and especially the Sandy Hill shooting in Newtown, CT, your mind goes immediately to the worse possible scenario when you hear your child's school is on a lockdown and no one is allowed to leave or enter.  So thankful to get my little girl home today, and she doesn't seem to traumatized by the experience.  At least she hasn't told me, "I don't want to go to school anymore!"  :-)

Weekend in Review:

I can't believe it is Sunday night already!  Where did this weekend go?  We were busy here, and for about the first time, we did NOT go to a Disney park!  I know, that's crazy, but we had enough to do around here.  On Saturday, my best friend, Tiff's mom and stepdad, Jean and Jim Toillion stopped over for a visit.  There were here to run the Daytona Half Marathon last weekend, and Jean was flying home Saturday afternoon.  Jim was staying for a few more days to visit more people, and then driving back to Eagle Grove.  It was so nice to see them, catch up with them, and they even brought us their leftover groceries from their time at their timeshare that they did not use.  How nice of them!  Jim left to watch a training game, and I took Jean to the airport.  Then the whole family headed over to the local Home Depot for some fun-filled family shopping.  :-)  There is so much that we need to get there, but we held back and concentrated on just some shelving/storage for our garage.  It is SO desperately needed!  Our garage is a mess!

On Sunday we spent the majority of the day outside, trimming our bushes and hedges, and working on the garage.  It is moving at just baby steps, and we still need a lot more to get that thing organized, but it is finally looking better!!

The kids were great all weekend, and Silas is really starting to talk more and more.  We can't understand a lot of it, but he sure is trying.  He has started telling on his Sissy when she is doing something he does not like, by coming to get one of us, taking our hands, pointing at Ava, and starting to tell us a whole string of things that involve the word "Sissy" a whole bunch, and a lot of finger pointing at her. :-)

Here are my pictures for this post:

Silas tried Nutella for the first time, and let's just say it was a big hit.  Once the little "breadsticks" were gone, he resorted to using his fingers (almost his whole hand) to just dig down in the container for a little bit more.  I had to take the second picture, because after the first one, Silas realized that Daddy did not smile.  He pointed at Eric, pointed at the camera, and said, "Dadda!  CHEESE!"  :-)

Have a good Monday everyone!!

Week in Review

This week started off cool, with the highs only in the 50s.  For life-long Floridians, it was freezing!  I didn't mind the change though, and wearing jeans and sweatshirts was a welcomed change.  Today was back up to 85, and it looks like it will stay that way through the weekend at least.

I had a busy week with daycare kiddos, having four of them, all in diapers, on both Monday and Wednesday.  Sure makes the day go by fast!  Silas is so cute with the littlest one, who is seven months old.  He might make a good big brother some day! :-)  Ava loves to help with the little girl also, and she is great to have around!  I am tempted to keep her home from school on these days just so I have such a great helper.

Here are just a couple pictures of Silas this week.  He loves to wear the glasses from his Mrs. Potato Head, and my friend Tiff sent him a Handy Manny costume after Halloween last year, and he finally fits into it.  It was super cute!  My own Mr. Fix-It!

Ava LOVES doing arts and crafts, and sometimes when she gets home from school, I will put a whole bunch of different "art supplies/materials" on the kitchen table, with some glue and scissors, and she can keep herself busy until almost supper time.  She has a blast, and I love that she is not just sitting on the couch watching TV and instead being creative and using her imagination.  This week she made me an early birthday card, but informed me that she had a hard time finding room for all those candles.  Haha!

Last weekend, Ava and I had our little special "girl time" at Disney.  We spent that day at Hollywood Studios, just the two of us, which Daddy and Silas stayed home having some "guy time."  It was so much fun going to shows and going on rides with my baby girl!  Can't wait to do it again!!

Ava with her 3D glasses ready for the Star Tours ride.

Mickey Mouse chocolate ice cream.  YUMMY!!

Finally, Ava had her Spring Class Picture today (Friday, Feb 22nd) at school.  Can't wait to see how it turned out, and have that memento for her to look at in the years to come.

Silly Silas

I was looking through some of my more recent pictures on my phone, and noticed a pattern of Silas being goofy.  Some were just too cute not to share, so enjoy!

This is one way to keep a baby still when trying to feed it.......

Silas LOVES licking the beaters, and this one happened to be red velvet cake.

Giving us his goofy "CHEESE" face.

Put this hat on all by himself, and turned on the bath water.

Silas was so excited to play with his cars, that he hopped into the tub of water with his clothes on still! :-)

All that playing during the day just wears the little guy out!

Pointing out airplanes in the sky with his awesome shades.

Silas after a bath....naked with a towel on his head.....oh, and Mommy's slippers, of course.

Silas eating his snack on the kitchen floor.  Why not?!?

Happy Valentine's Day!

February 14th....Valentine's Day!  I was able to spend my entire day with my "littlest" Valentine, my Bubby!

My handsome prince!

Ava had her Valentine's Day party at her school, which she was very excited about this morning.  When Eric came home, he brought a dozen yellow roses and chocolates for me, and a single pink rose and a Pez dispenser for Ava.  We are two lucky ladies!  The whole family watched a movie together and called it a night.  It was a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Disney Characters

Since we have been living in Florida, we have making the most out of our Florida Resident annual passes to Walt Disney World.  It is fantastic, and it is almost like going on vacation every weekend (minus the headache of traveling with kiddos and paying for hotel rooms).  It is always fun to see the Disney characters at the park, so here are a few pictures of Ava with some of them.

Mary Poppins
Ariel from The Little Mermaid

Ava with Alice in Wonderland

Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty

Princess Jasmine from Aladdin

The biggest character of them all:  MICKEY MOUSE!

Mickey Mouse trying to give Silas a "high five."  Silas was pretty shy.  He loves Mickey Mouse on TV, but didn't quite know what to think when he saw him in person.

Silas was suspicious of Mickey the whole time he was by him. :-)

Ava got to meet Ariel inside her grotto at the new Fantasyland!

Goofy!!

Donald Duck!

Tinker Bell!  Ava waited in line for quite awhile for this one.

Duffy Bear.  A new Disney character, who is Mickey Mouse's teddy bear.

I just loved this one!  A Green Army Man from Toy Story was playing Peek-A-Boo with Silas.

Finally got Silas in a picture with a charater without him needing to be held. :-)

Eeyore!

Piglet!

Tigger!

Tigger was great!  He was playing with Silas for awhile and pretending to take his toy truck.  Super cute!

Winnie the Pooh!

Aladdin and Jasmine

Rapunzel from Tangled

Silas was very curious about Princess Aurora........

Cinderella!!

She almost got him to sit by her. :-)

But in the end, it was just Ava with Princess Aurora
