Friday afternoon was full of excitement provided by Mr. Silas. So Silas LOVES to play in the van. I think it is a boy thing....tons of buttons, knobs, a steering wheel, etc. He often throws a HUGE fit when I try to take him out of his carseat and bring him into the house, so sometimes I will pull the van into the garage, turn off the van (of course!!), close the garage door behind us, take the keys inside and hang them up, take Silas out of his carseat and let me play in the van. I leave the doors to the van open so he can just get out when he is finished, and I also leave the door coming into the house from the garage open, so he just walks in after a few minutes. Friday afternoon we picked up Ava from school, drove home, and I was talking to mom on the phone. Silas started his usual temper tantrum when I tried to take him out the van, so I just did the usual and let him play in it for a few minutes. After not too long, my doorbell rings, and I look ou the front window to see a strange lady at the front door holding Silas! I almost had a heart attack! Turns out while I thought I was being so safe in letting him push a few buttons and turn on the wiper blades, and I had completely forgot about the garage door opener hooked to my visor. The little stinker found a new, fun button that opened up the garage door and let him out. Needless to say his days of playing the van are now over!!
On a more positive and happier note, Ava was selected as Star Student on Friday, and she brought him her certificate:
When Eric came home we all went out for pizza at Pizza Hut, as Ava had earned one of her Book-It rewards from school for reading her books. She likes getting her own cheese pizza, and it is fun to reward her with it.
On Saturday, we had a nice relaxing morning/early afternoon around the house. Ava and I worked on cleaning out her room (always a fun chore!!), while Eric cleaned the pool and did some work outside. Then we all got ready and went over to my cousin, Chris Umthun's house for supper. Her parents, Mark and Doris Umthun, from Eagle Grove, where still there (they spend three months every winter down here in Florida with Chris), and my great aunt Donna Culmer was also visiting. I had not seen her since my grandfather's passing a little over two years ago, so it was nice catching up with her. Chris had also invited her friends/neighbors over, and they have two little girls that are close to Ava's age. The girls had tons of fun playing together, and Silas had fun catching them and trying to keep up.
The girls were playing Charlie's Angels. I think Silas was Charlie and look.....you still can't see him.

On Sunday we decided to go to Disney, as it had been a few weeks since we had done that (we are trying to get the most out of our Disney Annual Passes.....can you tell??). We let Ava pick which park, and she wanted to do Epcot because she loves the Test Track. So that was our fun for today! It was super cold and windy, but somehow that did nothing to lessen the crowds. I am sure that Disney secretly loves it when this happens, as I am guessing no one is going to cancel their vacation to Disney or not go to one of the parks just because it is 50 degrees, but they make a killing profit on all their Disney hats, gloves, and jackets! Here are a few pictures of our fun today at Epcot:
Silas very serious as he watches "The Jamminators"

I seriously think their favorite thing to do at Epcot is to run/roll down this hill.

Silas LOVES ketchup. It is a meal all by itself for this boy. No fries needed!
I thought this was too cute not to share with everyone. Ava was in trouble a few times on Saturday. Nothing big, just normal kid stuff like not listening, not following directions, making back choices, etc. The next day she handed me this note:
It says, "Mom I am sorry how the way I behaved yesterday. I am sorry." :-)
My two babies:
LOVE THEM!!
Have a good week!!
