Let's see......the last time I updated this blog it was the day after my birthday, so I guess I need to start on that week.
Last year, a girl from my home town (Allison Sadler for those of you Eagle Grove folks....) had a baby girl pass away suddenly from SIDS at 4 months old. She would have turned one on March 12th. In honor of their little girl, they asked people to declare that day QUINNcidence Day and to do Random Acts of Kindness. I thought that was a great idea, so I loaded up all my daycare kiddos in the van and we headed to the nearest McDonalds. I went through the drive-thru, and got a vanilla ice cream cone for Ava (she thought that was a great deal!!) and then I paid for the car that was behind me. I asked the person working at McDonald's to just give the car this note as an explanation:
The people behind me honked and waved as I drove off, so I know they appreciated the gesture. Eric said I was just lucky that it was not a van full of people each ordering meals with a huge total. :-)
That night, the kiddos decided they wanted to take a bath together in mom and dad's "huge" tub, and then Silas had to help comb his sister's hair. Ava is nice enough to let her brother try, as I am not sure I would have let my brother even come close to my hair with a brush!
On Friday, March 15th, I flew out of Orlando super early to go to Chicago for my "girls weekend" and shopping trip. Ava had a few projects due that same day for St. Patrick's Day that we had been working on all week, so I made sure to take some picture of them before I left:
This is her "lucky shamrock" where she was supposed to list all the things that make her lucky.
She put her family, going to Disney World, having two American Girl dolls, trees (because "they help us breathe air"), her bed, and her house. :-)
Her second project was to make a Leprechaun trap. This is what we did: Painted a shoebox green, glued a rainbox of pipe cleaners to it to attract those sneaky Leprechaun. Built a ladder out of sticks for him to climb up on top of the box.......
Put glitter all over as another thing to attract him, as everybody knows Leprechauns like "shiny" things, and then painted small rocks bright yellow to trip him into thinking they are gold nuggets. He would hopefully follow the path of gold nuggets from the ladder to the pile of them..........
Which was a trap door! When he stood close the pile of "gold nuggets" he would fall through and be trapped in our box. To be nice and make sure he didn't get too hungry in there, we also put a handful of Lucky Charms cereal inside the box for him to munch on. :-) It was a fun project for us to do together.
As I mentioned earlier, on Friday morning I flew to Chicago. My flight was at 6:44 p.m., so we left the house here at 5:30 a.m. It was cutting it a little close, but I wasn't checking a bag and we didn't want to wake the kiddos up any earlier than that. I had such a great time! Shopping with my best friend, Tiffany Roosa, and my hilarious sister-in-law, Chelsey Tanke. We love doing to these discount thrift stores that are all over in Chicago, and lucky for us, it was half priced weekend. We always find TONS of stuff (mostly for the kids) at ridiculously cheap prices! Here is a picture of everything that I bought piled on our hotel bed when we were finished. I didn't pay over $2.00 for anything!!
Like I said......we got a TON of stuff!! I only brought home about half of this, and the clothes that are still too big for Ava and Silas will wait at my in-laws house until our trip home this summer. :-)
On Sunday morning I flew home even earlier than Friday. My flight was at 6:00 a.m., so Chelsey and Tiff had to get me to the O'Hare Airport by 5:00 a.m. I am sure they loved that, but I think they were able to go back to the hotel and sleep for a few more hours after that! Eric and the kids picked me up, and we went straight to my parents' hotel, because my mom, dad, and sister were visiting for the week! We had not seen Kelsey since before we moved down here last September, so we were all pretty excited about that, but especially Ava! I would say Silas was pretty pumped about having Nanny and Papa here too, judging by this picture:
We spent Sunday and most of Monday with them going to the Disney Parks. I let Ava play hooky from school on both Monday and Tuesday to spend time with her Nanny, Papa, and Aunt Kelsey. She thought that was pretty awesome, and even stayed two nights with them in their hotel. She did not want to go back to school on Wednesday! Here are a few pictures from our Disney fun:
MICKEY MOUSE!!!!
Getting ready to go watch Mickey's PhilHarMagic in 3D. Silas LOVED it and didn't move the entire time.
Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Ava was TERRIFIED of him, and would only go because A) Aunt Kelsey promised to go with, and B) her Mom made her. :-)
On Tuesday evening, we picked up Ava from mom and dad's hotel again, and they went to Epcot while we took the kids to visit some friends of ours from Iowa that were doing a Disney vacation. They lived right across the street from us, and I did daycare for their two boys, Robbie and Coltie. They were staying at the new Disney Value Resort Art of Animation which just opened. It was soooo stinkin' cute, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone doing Disney with young kids. It was so adorable and super family friendly. They were staying at the Finding Nemo section of the resort, and we visited their splash pad and pool for an hour or so that night.
We had SO MUCH FUN!!!
Wednesday was back to school for Ava, and back to work for me. I had a full house that day with five little ones, all two and under. Five in diapers, and three still taking bottles. Needless to say, those days go by fast! Here is a picture of my two littlest ones:
The one on the bottom is my newest little one, her name is Lorelai, and she is just 14 weeks old. The one on top is Delaney, and she is 7 months old!!! This picture gives you an idea of just how unbelievably small Delaney is.....seven months old and almost the same size as a 3 month old!
Ava had her Spring pictures taken, and got her class picture back:
It will be a fun memory for her to look back on, especially if we are not in Florida for more than a few years.
Well, that about sums things up and brings me to today! We were all exhausted after this week, and no one woke up until 8:30 a.m. this morning! I can't remember the last time both kids slept in like that! It was great! And then even when Silas did wake up, he did not want us to get him out of his crib. He kept holding up his hand to stop us and would say, "No!" He pointed to his books instead. So we gave him his sippy cup with some juice in it (his morning coffee.....he is crabby every morning until he has had his cup of juice....) and put his books in his bed, and stayed in there for quite awhile just reading books and drinking his morning cup of joe!
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I promise I will do a better job of updating the blog this week!!
